I'm still fairly new to the Buddhist path. I'm looking for some good literature on Buddhism or how to further myself in the teachings of the Buddha.

Thanks!

The Bible is full of the promotion of violence, hate, and corruption. I have read the Bible, more clearly than most Christians I suspect. What makes you think your path is above others? It actually is this thinking that makes your path not a spiritual one at all.

And Shayna, we do not worship idols in Buddhism. I think you need to research at least before being rude. We strive for the path to enlightenment in this life.

Thanks a lot Thomas. That should keep me busy for some time.

The Holy Bible is the best book you can read...it will tell you why not to follow Buddhism. Why would you worship an idol when we have a living God? The God of all!

From what i'm examining genuine now, human beings desire Mahayana Buddhism to Theravada Buddhism with the aid of fact MB is greater like a faith. or maybe people do no longer in basic terms like the assumption of self-attempt. possibly its with the aid of misunderstanding that Buddhism is an atheist philosophy. There ought to be loads of motives. yet considering the fact that i understand what your like, i think of you would be greater accepting of the "people do no longer in basic terms like the assumption of self-attempt" reason.

Some suttas (written discourses/teachings attributed to the Buddha) are published and may be available at your local library or bookstore, http://www.wisdompubs.org/Pages/c_teachings.lasso

The Access to Insight website have some suttas, but not all---however, it's a great resource point: full of information and other literature you might find helpful.

Hi......

This may be not the answer to your question. But have you been to a Buddhist temple. A Buddhist monk will be able to guide you. I follow theravada Buddhism.
