So, let me get this straight: you're okay with a 56 year old man dating a 12 year old girl?
Where do you draw the line?
You can say, "I meant a 19 year old and a 17 year old." But you have to be ready for a 20 year old and a 16 year old...and so on. So, where do you draw the line?
That's why there are laws about adults not dating children.

Is it fair that in some countries children are trained to go to war and use guns?
Is it fair that in some countries children are working in sweatshops to make the clothes you wear?
Is it fair that in some countries children are put on the streets for sex trade?
Yes it's fair that it's a crime if someone older than 18 that dates a child under 18.

Given that this is a prude nation founded by puritans (notorious prudes), yeah our laws make "sense". But in other countries with separate morals...things are different. Apparently, under 18 minds are still being molded and are not "ready" for the sexual experience, especially with someone over 18 with a fully molded mind. It's stupid.

This is totally fair. People under 18 are complete idiots. That's why laws like this exist. These kind of laws are just trying to keep you from ******* your life up before you get out of middle school.

It doesn't matter if its fair, its a law and you're branded as a con for rape for the rest of your life!
Parts of this country have 14 as the age for marriage with parents consent, but its still considered rape if they aren't married to the guy.

yes, it happens, but here's an interesting fact. the people who get married that young divorce only at a rate of like 15%. while we adults here in the US get divorced at about 65%+. It's just different cultures, I know that most those 14 year old marriages aren't consummated until later in life, so you shouldn't worry too much about it.

You can legally be wed at 16 here, with parental consent. I think it's a very reasonable law.

yes it is fair....personally i think countries that allow children to be married at 14 are wrong....they are children, they should be going to school dances and enjoying teenage life not becoming someones wife. at 18 you still have a lot of living to do....enjoy it....don't worry about tying yourself down to someone at this early age

There is not really a crime as long as the younger party's guardians don't mind. But if there is some intimacy the younger party's guardians can get them for rape.
