Well said, Mario Vincenzo, molto benne! I too love the taste, the way my food tastes when the right wine is served with it, the way I smile after a glass. Although entirely possible, its not the right form of alcohol to get buzzed on - that would be bourbon or similar (which I too enjoy). Its health benefits have long been known by the old people of Italia, thats how they became old people! And even my 7yo son enjoys a half glass with a special meal, and has done so for as long as I can remember.
So the answer to your question? 1/2 a bottle of wine is probably plenty for you. Try bubbles, like a cheap and cheerful US, French, Aus or Kiwi champagne. Move on to a deep ruby red bulls blood like a South Australian merlot when your taste develops.

It's a cultural thing is France and some parts of Europe that I noticed. The wine, however, that they drink with meals is doesn't stand a chance against the American norm proof wise. So, it's a far weaker wine. Check proofs when purchasing wine, and ask your supplier for something weaker, milder, and lighter. Avoid strong, heavy wines, and don't over indulge. And only take it with food, as it can help absorb some acidity and whatnot.

They drink it for the flavor, the experience of enjoying a good glass of wine. Wine has wonderful health benefits. It lowers cholesterol and has cancer preventing anti-oxidants. Red wine is better for you. 1 glass should not get a person drunk but after a few days of drinking a glass or two regularly you build up a tolerance. I like chocolate with red wine. Dark chocolate also has anti-oxidants that help prevent cancer. Now when I refer to red wine I do not mean the chillable red box wine or any wine with a twist off cap. A dark red merlot or shiraz or shiraz/cabernet blend is great.

I drink a red wine every single evening. I have found it a peaceful, relaxing routine, which has also led me to learn quite a bit about different types of reds. I personally like the heavier California Zins, which tend to be smoky, but sometimes I prefer a lighter Pinot Noir. There are health benefits. But I drink it solely for the taste, the relaxation, the experience. And that's that!

Good wine relaxes you and also helps your blood flow (red wine). For those who enjoy wine while winding down at night the intent is just that, to relax not get drunk. I enjoy a glass of red wine, particulary cabernet before I go to bed. Its pretty much like someone drinking some chamomile tea before going to bed, its just a form of warmth and relaxation.

It's healthy to drink wine in moderation. There are many studies that show there are benefits to your heart from drinking red wine daily, but limited to just 4 ounces for women and 4-8 ounces for men.

I am one of those white people that likes to have some wine in the evening. I enjoy it, its as simple as that.
As far as reading, I read when I go to bed like a lot of people, the wine doesn't affect me in that area, as long as I don't over indulge. I just end up going to sleep a lot earlier.

A glass of wine a night is not bad at all, in fact reports say it's healthy. And a glass of wine is not 8 or 12 oz., more like 4 oz. I can't speak for you, but whites won't make me blitzed, but the same 4 oz. of red will, so I avoid that.
