I would not recommend the 1st 10 minutes of the rain because it is pulling down all the pollution, but after that it is probably pretty good instead of the chemically altered water we drink. Plus these people you must be referring to have obviously built up an immunity to the other things that have combined with the rain water.

Short answer: YES
Rain water can carry many toxins, diseases, infections, viruses, organisms, etc. Ever heard of acid rain?!?
Long Answer: It Depends. . .
On the environment of the area. Then again, rain often comes from great distances. Rain can carry vital minerals and nutrients that are often stripped from tap and bottled water.
Either Way:
The larger the society the less safe the rain and tap water is for consumption. Heavily populated areas are the worst.
In other words, unless for your survival, AVOID DRINKING RAIN.

Rain can be caught for garden or non potable uses if funnelled off a structure...if it's directly caught it couldn't get more purer.
But then again drinking runoff might be just as good as tap...have you seen the pipes that deliver the water throughout the city and in your house.....that's why I buy bottled water.

Do not drink rain water, especially if it comes off your roof.
Even IF you keep the mosquitoes out of it, it will carry dirt from your roof.

It is good for you but not from your roof and filtered the same as any water. I would only use later rains and not the first washing the scum out of the air...it is good believe it or not.

I sincerely hope that you are joking. There is so much pollution in the air that water has to be purified before it can be considered for consumption.

well it does contain pollutants from the air, but boiling it might take out some of the nasty. I still wouldn't do it though. Don't believe that crap about the tea.
