When the vaccination is created, the scientists who make it look at past trends of the flu viruses that have hit in the past and try to predict which strain is most likely to hit that year. So sometimes they predicted wrong and the strain of vaccines doesn't work against the flu virus that hits.

Also, the flu vaccine isn't 100% effective, it can help prevent the flu but there is still a chance you will get the flu but it won't be as severe as if you didn't get the shot at all. Plus, because you are being injected with the flu virus it is possibly that just that teeny tiny bit they give you can make you sick.

The flu shot has dead viruses in it. When it is injected the person receiving the injection is then protected again those virus. But there are a lot of viruses out now that it is winter. Sometime people have a bad cold for a few days and they think they have the flu. The best thing is to take Tylenol and alternate with Motrin every six hours. Drink plenty of fluids.

It's really quite simple. The flu shot doesn't prevent you from getting the virus. It just helps your body build up an immunity to it so you have less of a chance of getting it. I've been getting a flu shot for years and I've only had it once when I was 7, since then I've been flu free.

I'm a nurse. The flu shot doesn't prevent the flu but lesson your symptoms only. With the flu shot, you wouldn't get as sick if you didn't get the shot. I hope this is useful to you.

prior to the flu shot you and your child may have been exposed to an illness and it wasnt the shot that made you ill. Also the shot will build up immunities to the flu vaccine given. it could save youre lives instead of just being ill. there are a lot of viruses this time of year.

the flu that you can get from the shot itself is not as serious as some of the types of flu that the shot protects you from. I do believe that it protects you from more more than one strain of flu.
I always wondered that myself because I am forced to take them for my job. I eventually asked what the point was and this was the answer I received.

I believe that the point of getting a flu shot is to lessen the sickness if and when it hits you. You know, make it um less severe and its "run time" shorter.

when you get a flu shot, you get a little bit of the virus so that your immune system learns to fight it off. sometimes after you get it, you'll get a little sick. and i think they aren't for all sicknesses, only certain ones. hope this helps!!
