Conscientious Objectors during Vietnam and today do not face the same situation.
First during Vietnam a CO applicant could be allowed to serve as a medic in the Army, a certain ticket to Vietnam as a combat medic or get an exemption from military service such as Quakers and "Peace Church" member like Mennonites, etc.
The Army no longer offers any CO status as to being a medic.
CO medics served well in WWII and Vietnam: three received Medal of Honor awards (2 for Vietnam both posthumous) and over 300 were killed in action, so it is wise to recall their contributions as "Doc's".
No idea why the Army dropped the option but since it is a volunteer army, why not.
CO medics did not carry weapons, not a good idea if one is in Iraq or Afghan.

properly there are some similarities. there's a equipped in inhabitants that regards us as occupiers, no longer liberators and could combat us in spite of the circumstances. there is likewise the reality that the two wars have been began on fake premises (Vietnam - Gulf of Tonkin incident, Iraq - Saddam connection to 9/11). the main substantial distinction is that Iraq become an attempt to entice enemies into the area for removal while quite we created an entire new enemy by applying occupying the rustic.

You can't be a contientious objector if there is no draft on. Yes, people try to play that card, but those are cowards who reap the benefits and then realize they're afraid to fight.

Conscientious Objectors were people who tried to get out of the draft because of this.
Now that you know what one is....do you think they are out there today?

Yes, but it makes no sense to me. Now they are all volunteers; so much for obligations, duty, honor and country.
