yes - well - it'snot somethin you "outgrow" their are operations that can hel some gain hearing, but one has to have specific hearing problems..i think it's called a coclier (sp?!!) implant..and their is great debate within the deaf commuity about it...

yes they do remain deaf, however all the cochlear implants, hearing aids and whatever else they have WILL NOT cure deafness. when they take it off, they are still deaf.

in most cases yes. however, some people are getting their small children that are born hearing impaired fitted with a cochlear implant and that can help to maximize sound and give some people limited hearing.

Not in all cases. My goddaughter had a cochlear implant put in and she's expected to have her hearing restored gradually.
