Yes, you are still a parent.
However, your relationship has changed from caregiver to loving friend.
You are still there no matter what if and when they need you and you know enough to stay out of it when they do not need you, just like any really good friend would be.
Your new role it seems in this particular scenario is Grand parent. That is a role I very much look forward to and with only one married, it may be a while, but still cannot wait to explore this new world one day.

Why would you stop being a parent and loving your child when they grow up? You would just have to learn to step back and let them live their own life.. But you are still a parent, no matter how old your children are.

It depends on what you mean by that. Yes, you are still a parent. You don't stop being a mother or father just because your child is grown.
Do you still have the right to tell your child what to do? NO! You can suggest, but if your child says they don't want advice, don't give them any.
On the other hand, if your kids are telling you that you are still obligated to support them "because you are still my parent" --then tell them that they are on their own!
If you want to help them and they want to accept help, that is fine. But you don't have to go broke helping someone who makes poor decisions because mom or dad always bails them out.

You're a parent til the day you die! Even when your kids have kids, youre still a parent. . .that's why they call them grandPARENTS. There are less duties as a parent when the child is grown, but you are still a parent nonetheless!

If you CARE and LOVE them and what to see them. You are still a parent. I'm 54 years old and my parents are 84 and they still feel the same way.

you are a parent until the day you die. If your child dies you are still a parent, just a parent of a dead child.
Sorry for sounding so blunt but that is how i see it.

The moment you gave birth to your son or daughter- you will always be a parent, no matter how old they are. But, when that child reaches adulthood- he/she is an adult, and should be treated as such.
