I hit a stray Shetland pony the other night in my Humvee and it was killed instantly. Really glad I had the extra heavy duty brush guard installed. The blood just washed away with the garden hose -- anyway, I figured there was no need in wasting the horse. afterall, meat's meat and a man's got to eat! I always carry a chainsaw in my truck so it was no problem to field dress the little guy right there on the side of the road, load him up and bring him home. So...deep fry? Grilled? Smoked? What will taste best?

Hey, it wasn't a hit and run! It took me darn near half an hour to cut it up and load it.

Sounds like you need to start with some beers. I would try grilling it first. Then take some of the large pieces of meat and smoke it on a grill. Then try some in a crock pot with onions, bell peppers and garlic. Cut up some into steaks and eat it blackened. Try some in gumbo and then spagetti.

Sounds good.

How do you know the pony was a stray? Just because it wasn't in a fenced in area? Mister, that was someones pet you destroyed and instead of washing, cutting up, and eating the evidence you should have sought out the owner and told them what happened and then let them handle it.

All of the above would suit me. But it doesn't taste like "chicken" like some may think! Pony T-bones....umhhh. A little Jack Daniels BBQ, toss it on the PIT and roast the whole pony!

A chainsaw can be a little messy though.........try an axe if you want to cut it down to size.

Enjoy.............

I had horse meat sashimi in Japan. You could try that, pretty uncomplicated, as long as you know the meat is fresh.
