How can you not be skeptical of God or theist if you do not know enough about gods?

I mean, unless you have studied all about all gods ever invented, how could you make any judgement which is true?

First off mankind was only blessed with enough intelligence to grasp how little we know about anything. To think that it is within our meager understanding to truly know all that is God is laughable. In our microwave society...everything needs to be done in 2 mins. or less. It is much easier to just believe that there isn't a God. Oh sure...the universe was created by a big bang. That is easy (and even has a Hollywood element), but what was existence before then. What created the big dust ball that exploded. Why is there dust? Wanna easy answer...there is more life than you think...God is love, light, and all.

Because one is skeptical in regard to God does not automatically mean that the person is also ignorant of the concept or of various religious beliefs, creeds, and tenets. The nonbeliever or questioner may simply have developed the inability to "believe" or may have learned sufficiently of the subject to have arrived at a point of agnosticism. Lack of faith is not synonymous with lack of knowledge or experience.

I have extensively studied Judaism and Christianity. I have also studied Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and several nature religions. I have studied both these religions, their histories, and their ancient mythologies and texts. I have no religious beliefs whatsoever. If there is no evidence or justification, I do not claim truth, and will not listen to someone who does.

How can you be skeptical of Zeus or Christian if you do not know enough about Zeus?

Well, considering I was a Christian for the first 16 years of my life, it obviously isn't that simple. Evidence, or a lack of evidence, has shown that I have no reason to beleive in creationism, and a few good reasons to beleive in evolutionism. I definately do not deny that there is/may be a god, but I sure haven't discovered a decent path to him.

Who decides whether or not someone knows "enough" to make a decision? We can never know everything about a higher power. What you believe is simply what you believe, and life should be a long journey of serving your God, getting to know him/her. You should always question things and seek better understanding.

I think that being agnostic is the only rational choice. You cannot say that there is no God and be completely sure. You cannot say that there is a God an be completely sure. BUT you CAN say that their may or may not be a God but I choose to live an honorable life because it feels good to be good to others.

How do you know you don't believe in Amun-Ra and Osiris unless you have studied him? At one time the entire technologically advanced culture did. Or how bout Zeus, Odin, etc, etc......]

You will be very surprised that most of us have read the entire Bible which is more educated on the subject that most Christians. In fact reading the Bible further cemented my position because I could see how absurd it was.

though this is a good question, the answer is a bad one.

not all people do the research before making their judgements. if they did, there wouldn't be racism. we would all have fully developed opinions of each other based on FACTS. we would understand each other and we would look at all points of view of an argument before picking a side.

unfortunately, most people judge without putting the shoe on the other foot. i wish they would.
