try a snowflake theme, with light blue, silver, and white. i have seen tons of black and white with red weddings during this time. a snowy magical wedding would be gorgeous.

The only December wedding I've been to had the color of red, but that was WAY back in the early 90s...although, since it's near Christmas, I would say that it would still be a good color, along with a dark green.
White or off-white/eggshell/cream are also great winter colors.
And a darkish blue would be nice.
Maroon, or a good chocolatey brown if it's done in satin.

The biggest colors of the season are silver and gold. Go with the color of your wedding bands and you'll realize how much in that color scheme there is out there. You can pick basic white invitations with gold or silver trim. There's also always platinum dresses for the bridesmaids. And you can't go wrong with platinum shoes and a white dress. Oh the possibilities.

Go off the cuff a little with a deep burgundy instead of predictable red, it's more elegant, you can coordinate food and wine with this colour for a very "put-together" wedding. My mother-in-law decorated this year's x-mas in Burgandy reds that almost had a purple hew and the house looked so elegant and tasteful. Deep forest greens go well with this colour if you want to incorporate foiliage for a less expensive alternative to flowers, a unique, though expesive flower that goes well would be reddish/purple sun flowers, Hyacinths in deep purple would go well or in white to look like snow,

Have a red and green Christmas wedding - it gives you a premade theme and loads of decorating options.

Whatever color will look great on your bridesmaids! Generally, darker colors are best (plum, red, navy blue, hunter green, etc.). But I've also seen gold and black too.
But please please please keep your gals at the front of your mind when choosing colors. Picking a color that looks good on them is more important than the color ink on the invitations.

I would do either forest green and ivory or navy blue and silver. the green if you wanted to tie in chrsitmas and the blue and silver if you want to do a wintery night kind of thing.

i would suggest like a turquiose color, dark, with maybe silver. cuz red and burgandy are all worn out colors. and for winter you will always want a dark color.
