I'd really like to get one, because I know how to not abuse it, and I have the money to pay it back. Thanks.

I suggest getting a credit card through your bank. I am not sure if you are a student or not, but most of the time they offer student Visa's. It is a good way to start building credit, especially if you don't have any. Because "no credit" is just as bad as "bad credit." Just make sure you are disciplined, and carry it only when needed.

The guy who said go to your bank and get a small signature loan first. That is the best way to build up your credit plus the payments are set and you have have the money taken directly out of your savings or checking account. Then I would do that again. Then if you still feel that you need a credit card, you will get a better rate. Just remember it is always better to pay cash so you are not paying twice for something you really want or need.

When I turned 18 I got a credit card through Household bank that was a really good one because I was a student. It had no annual fee, no membership fees or anything out of the ordinary. I also earned like 3% cash back so at the end of each year I got a check in the mail. I think they are a really good company for someone just starting out.

I'd recommend a gas card. They tend to have lower limits, and you will likely use it frequently. Although they tend to have somewhat higher interest rates, you mention that you intended to pay the balance at the end of the cycle anyway so this won't effect you. Most people have already budgeted for gas anyway, so its easy to stay in line with these cards.

None. get a loan instead. the rates are lower and you are not able to just go crazy with the acount. If you get a credit card now, I guarantee you'll regret it later.

A small one!!!! Don't get one with a credit limit over $300. You probably think this is too low, but wait and see how you do before you judge too harshly. It's so easy to buy things using a cedit card and before you know it your deep in debt. Please start out cautiously.

No problem ... get a secured card. Most banks can tell you about them. Be VERY careful about applying for cards online that ask for personal information. There are alot of scams out there!!!

Citibank. Awesome. Plus you get points, which gets you rewards and gift cards. Pay them off right away.
