This may sound like an odd question so no silly answers please! last night i was talking to my cousin and she told me that sometimes when she goes to the bathroom, she has trouble getting everything out if you know what i mean and uses her fingers to force poop out of her butt. I told her that this probably isn't safe and she may have some kind of problem going on there that would explain why everything doesn't always come out on its own but she responded that she feels no pain when she does this and that she just needs to give it a little extra help to come out. I know this is a bit gross but i really want to tell her whether or not she is doing damage to her body and if she may have a problem that needs to be checked out. thanks!

Like many parts of the human body , that opening is meant to stretch. So if she is having problems "getting it all out" she may have a medical or nutritional problem that she needs to talk to a doctor about.

As for putting her fingers in.... It will stretch.... but she might also cause hemmrohoids, or a tear if she scratches herself with a fingernail... or an infection if she introduces bacteria or something else into her body.

Damage - probably not..... is it totally safe- probably not.
Its nice that you are concerned and want to help. Good Luck

It sounds like she has hard stool or is constipated. She should not become dependant on laxatives or stool softeners, so she needs to increase her fiber and exercise more. I'm lazy about this, so I eat those Metamucil crackers. I don't like mixing some glop in juice of water to make a yucky fiber shake, so the crackers are best for me. Probably she can get what she needs by eating high fiber cereals (bran) for breakfast.

I have Inflammatory Bowel Disease. This causes all kinds of lower intestinal issues. I either go from dirrahea, and or difficulty getting it all out. I do take medication, and it has helped. I don't think her getting the poop out with her fingers will hurt, but she should get checked out to be sure that it isn't anything serious, and also to see if she can get help with medication.

I feel sorry for her, cause I know how difficult and frustrating it can be.

Hope this helps.

Maybe she's constipated? I don't think she should be sticking her fingers up there.
