take small sections
and hold the handle down
and put it under the clamp
and roll it up into the curling iron.
hold for about 10 seconds, then
push the handly down and
pull it out slowly.

What you need to do is invest in a set of steam rollers. Thjey curl your hair very quickly and it looks great. If you have time you need to buy the brush rollers at the pharmacy and the pink stick things. Start at the front and taking a strip of hair like the start of a mohawk and curl about an inch of hair from tip to skull and stick the pink stick thing in at an angle that holds it in, repeat all over the head. When dry then you will have curls. You can get really wavy hair by putting it in lots of braids and letting it dry then take out. Or put hair in ponytail and using sponge rollers curl the pony tail all over and let it dry. This method allows you to pull hair back, not let it fall loose all over, it won't be curled all the way to the scalp. you have to pull the front back and put in a barette or an updo on top and let the back fall. good luck. Maybe go have it done at a salon first to see how they do it. Best bet is steam rollers.

go to the nearest professinal salon and have them perm it with loose curls, then if you want it straight, use a flat iron, or have someone help you at home.
