I'm black, white, and Native so my hair's a hot mess too, lol.

Go to your hair dresser and see what she says. Try some of the stuff she recommends, and if that doesn't work try some new stuff out. It definitely is trial and error and it might take years. I'm 18 and I just now found a spritz that makes my hair softer and smoother while (and after) I straighten it.

I have a friend who's the exact same thing is you. She uses hair olive oil from cvs and her hair looks great. She also uses water to style her hair.
