Hi Kandace...consider using a little bit of vinegar on places where your kitten is suckling on you. This is a safe deterrent. Another product which you can purchase at nearly all pet stores worldwide is Grannick's Bitter Apple® http://www.grannicks.com which is a citrus scent the repels most pets away from suckling, biting, licking objects that is undesirable as well.

I too have a cat who has done the same since I adopted him from the shelter as a kitten. Very annoying to me. People have all sorts of explanations such as they were taken from their mothers too soon. I don't believe this is true since I've seen a kitten do the same thing who stayed with his mother until he was 10 weeks and still nursed on everything in sight. I think it's like kids who suck their thumbs. Not all do it.
I wish I had a good solution for you. What I do to my cat is tell him no. That works for like 10 seconds and then he tries again. And he's 4 years old. This goes on until I get annoyed and set him down. Kitties are so funny aren't they? Just have patience with him:)

Yep, try it with a 20# male. He's a pest. My other cats knead on those micro plush blankets and bathrobes but Bubba is the only one who suckles. He's nearly 3 years old and has done it since we found him last year in the country. Someone abandoned him. He was neutered and front declawed and they just dumped him in the country. Jerks. I haven't figured a way to stop him. I assume he will do it forever. But on a positive note, he leaves everyone else in the house alone. He just drools on me. How lucky. Yep. Just dumb luck. Ick.

Mine did it her whole life. My cheek, foot, forehead, whatever was handy. The only way I could get any sleep at night was to totally hide under the covers with a bit of my arm sticking out. If she fell asleep & I tried to take my arm back, she woke up & started all over again. She died a couple years ago & the new cat doesn't do it. I kind of miss it. Stupid huh?

It's because the kitten was probably taken from his mother to early. Let me guess the Kitten is pulling on your shirt and kneading with his/hers paws? This is separation anxiety, from what I understand, and my cat did this for it's entire life its actually endearing! Get use to it because it is probably not going anywhere!

my cat use to do the same thing. To stop him when ever he started I took him off of me that seemed to work after awhile. Hope this helps.
