What is the best food or meal to eat before bed when trying to gain weight?

It doesn't matter too much, as long as it's calories. To get lots of calories, combine sugars and fat. That could be milk and cookies, a hamburger, fries and a soda, peanut butter and jelly, anything like that.

Cheesecake or other pastries are sweet and high in fat, so you could hit the cakes, pie, muffins, brownies, anything like that.

But whatever it is, have a big meal, and plan to sit and watch TV, or go to bed. Studying is harder on a full stomach, try to schedule that some other time.

You never eat before bed, if you want to loose weight, before you go to bed drink lots of water or green tea.
