It's best to store popping corn in an airtight container. I store mine in a glass jar that has a rubber seal and that metal thingy that keeps the whole thing closed tightly.

I know that Ikea sells a similar style of jar. I think it's called SLOM.

I believe you should just store it in a cabinet. If you believe it is old, add a few drops of water to the jar and seal it for a few days. The popcorn needs the moisture stored in each kernel to pop. If it dries out, the few drops of water you added should help rehydrate the kernels.

You're supposed to store it in the fridge, so the moisture that causes it to pop doesn't dry out. Microwave popcorn shouldn't be stored in the fridge though.
