This scam is so common they authorities have quit sending out alerts about new versions.
1. There is no International Mega Lotto.
2. You can't win if you don't enter.
3. The check is bogus. If they ask you to use it to pay 'taxes' or 'processing fees', they will keep the money and you will have to repay the bank for the bad check. They may even get enough information to clean out your account.

I used to work for SDP in clearwater and it's not particulary a scam but you are not a winner. they'll tell you that they'll enter you in a sweepstakes and before they do that, they'll tell you that your chances are higher if you purchase magazines at a discounted price. People get so excited about it especially when they send them the one about being a million dollar winner and get the congrats call from pat hines. I never met Pat and don't know jack about him but older folks seems to know him cuz of his sexy voice or something. So the truth is you're not a winner and chances are they'll offer you to buy magazines for a cheaper price and tell you you can cancel whenever you want to in regards to the subscription but then they charge your credit card about 450 or so maybe more and your magazines will not come til like 6months later!!. They'll say they wont charge your card just for record but they will and also they'll tell you about winning a vacation for free that part is true but if you are already in florida why would you want to go to orlando? usually they offer vacation to orlando, miami and the bahamas but i've had people call us and say they had to pay for their lodging. I don't think much has changed and that was like 6yrs ago and i have friends who work there for easy money and it's still the same script. I hope i was of help

Simple question...have you recently purchaesed or had purchased for you a ticket or entry in to this lottery.
Is the return address on the correspondance a PO box or a business residence?
Is the company Phone number on the document?
If the answer is no to any of these then , throw the thing in the Bin.
What ever you do NEVER EVER give them your credit card or bank details, social security number or date of birth.
It does not take much to steal your identity , rack up heaps of debt in your name and empty your bank accounts.
I hope it is not to late

Stop your correspondence with them at once. They will likely ask you at a future date to send them money as processing fee for your "winnings."
Nothing is free.
