some people hold a piece of meat on their eye when they have a black eye. but why? how does it help?

it is an old facioned stereotype, people back in the day (which was a wendsday, by the way), used to keep meat in their freezer as do some today. and when sayed child or person gets clocked. well the best medison for that is a nice cold compact. and well grab a chuck of meat. it works. best i can give ya. enjoy.

cold meat (not frozen as it'll cause frostbite) keeps cold and even temp for long periods of time (frozen peas melt fast and start off too cold and a cloth doesn't stay cool very long)...

They do it because its frozen! They do it to numb up the eye so it wont be sore.
Some people in my neighborhood do it because they are gay....................hmm dunno
