apellidos means last names....not necessarily the two last names of a spanish speaking person or any one person. if you said "mis apellidos" then it would mean "my last names" therefore last names belonging to one person.....

if you said "los dos apellidos de jose" meaning the two last names of jose. so, apellidos by itself does not fall into any of one of those listed (A - D)
