Hi Maddie, as with all things coffee, if taken in moderation it is okay for you. Mmmmm keeps you awake during the day? Sounds like you need to look at how much sleep you are getting at night, your body is still growing and developing so it needs lots of sleep to do its job properly.
Don't have your coffee too strong and have it with milk, don't drink it late in the day or at night.
Make sure you have lots of fresh water each day to look after your 'inner health and beauty' water is great inside out for our skin.
Downside of coffee? It aggravates the bladder and makes us go to the loo more often.
Are you too young to drink coffee? Not sure on that one as I gave my kids spoonfulls of my cup of tea or coffee from when they were babies.
Personal and family choice here.

Coffee contains caffeine, a mild stimulant. Drinking coffee results in an increase of the heart rate of the drinker, increased blood flow to the muscles, and an increase in blood pressure and it causes a decrease in blood flow to the skin and to the inner organs. Most importantly for many drinkers, the level of dopamine in the brain increases.

Well if you want you can drink coffee, but you should limit yourself to about 5 cups a week and no more..Coffe is somewhat bad an benifical for you but only under moderate consumption..but dont put too much sugar in it as it is bad for you..Bye

You do not need cofee in any way.
As far as i know (being a norwegian chef) there is no growth or hormonal matters concerning cofee.
But cofee is only recomended in small amounts and best used as a social drink after meals and so on.
In health farms an physwicians who treat persons with stomach problems often recomends no cofee because its made from roasted / burned cofeebeans and contains acid and caffeine wich can for some give problems with digesting (and getting to sleep)(it doesnt make you more alert but it can steal away your sleep if consumed in the evening)

No, you dont need coffee at 13, the caffiene isnt good for you to be drinking, wait a few years. Besides if you drink it all the time it will stain your teeth and you will become dependent on coffee if you drink it every day. Go and look up the side effects of caffiene, its really unhealthy.

At 13, drink de-caf. Older than 17, then regular coffee.

I was around 6 and my Dad used to give me a "Cup O' guppies"... it was coffee, but it had SO much milk in it it was irish skin colored.

Today, that's how I still like my coffee... heavy on the cream.

i don't thinks its a problem. its not drugs or cigarettes so why is everyone so bent out of shape. just drink it in moderation. and your mothers problem is she is old and needs or want to drink it. it perks up old people. plus she can always buy decaf or tea. anyways good luck to you.
