Cystitis is an inflammatory condition of the urinary bladder and the ureters. It can be caused by a bacterial infection, urinary calculus or tumor. So just advising the use of antibiotics doesn't cover the whole story. The important thing to do is to have determine the cause. Cranberry juice isn't going to help especially if the cause is bacterial infection or tumor. Whoever it is who has this "cystitis" needs to be seen by a physician for a real diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Cystitis is generally an inflammation and not an infection. Cranberry juice will help, but preventing it is more important. Preventing it involves proper hygiene, and that's something that not everyone has been taught. Don't blame yourself if that's the case.

I'm sorry, I don't know what cystitis is, but if cranberry juice is a way of helping it, look into cranberry supplements. Azo makes a supplement, and so do several other vitamin companies. Warning: it's a little expensive, but worth it. I used to get bladder infections a lot, but when I'm taking supplements I don't. Good luck!

Those little sachets from counter at chemists and PLENTY of water. Yes it'll make you go like hell, and it hurts, but its the only way you'll flush out your bladder.

If it's a bad case, i.e. it's persistent/very painful/peeing blood or clots/not being able to pee/urine retention, you need to see a doctor straight away, they'll put you on antibiotics.

I nursed someone who left a urine infection, it went to his kidneys and he finally ended up on my ward with kidney infection and pneumonia, so take it seriously.
