In northern VT, when I was a child, winters were longer, snow piled up many feet, and temperatures dropped below zero degrees Fahrenheit many times. Three years ago was the last time my brother was able to go snowmobiling a decent amount of times on the trails (which I think people should find a way to make snowmobiles more environmentally correct!). Last year my brother could only go snowmobiling once on the trails. And this year my brother barely went around our field because the snow came and disappeared within two days. We haven’t had any temperatures that reached below zero this winter at all. This Christmas was the second Christmas without snow in this part of the state’s history. Temperatures were in the high forties, dropped just below freezing for a couple days, and now reached to the high forties and fifties again and it’s in the middle of winter! This is the time of year where temperatures are frigid. What is up with this global warming? There is no snow outside and our ski seasons are shrinking. We are getting rain instead of snow this year!! Why do people deny global warming!!!!

Yes, it's true. These rich oil companies pay scientists millions in order to brainwash people that there's no such thing as 'global warming' so they can stay rich and wealthy while the people use oil forever. They even pay the gov. to keep there mouth shut. Bush's father owns partial of a oil company, so you'd understand why Bush doesn't beleive in global warming.

I know a scientists which got paid to tell everyone global warming is not the cause of smog, but of the climates SUPPOSED changes. Yea that's right, so all that baloney, 'this guy prove's that there's not such thing.' BS!!! Don't beleive me? Here's a link about Bush trying to silence people. http://environment.about.com/b/a/256810.htm?terms=bush+attempts+to+silence+scientists+on+global+warming

It's out there, it's real. I've noticed with my own two eyes as well, and in the meantime, if oil still is used to this day, the world WILL be disastrous. More storms, diseas's spread, and water level rising.

Update: bkc99xx I live in the western US and I'm seeing changes already. I don't know what you're talking about.

I don't deny nor accept global warming.I just don't really give a dam. All I do know is that it feels great to be able to go outside without freezing. Big deal that we're getting rain instead of snow, the winter isn't over yet. It was like this a few years back, then in the late part of January-early February, we had a severe ice storm. Who are we to question? Just accept it for what it is. We can not control the weather, any more than we can control a wild animal with just our bare hands.

People don't necessarily deny global warming, but this wacky Winter (as it was just stated on ABC News this evening) is the result of a La Nina (sp?) year and not global warming.

One other note: Most of us remember our childhoods as having all snow/all the time, piled high, and all Winter long. If you were to check weather records you'd find our memories of how much snow was around when we were children are not accurate.

Also, I've heard that weather tends to run in ten-year cycles.

I don't know why people don't want to believe that global warming exists, they probably think ignorance is bliss but, It isn't . We have the same thing here in Ohio, we usually always have snow in the winter, today it is raining and 61 degrees. We had snow for one day and it wasn't even enough to stick to the ground, we haven't had a white Christmas in 2 years. The sun is hotter which is why so many are getting skin cancer now. People really need to wise up and try to help the situation before it is too late.

I completely agree with Ron Winters and Plcc99xx from the above answers. Liberals and these other sorts of people have a very egotistical nature. Believe it or not, the world is not all centered around you (speaking about liberals in general, please take no offense). They think that this "Global Warming" is being caused only by humanity and that they alone can "come in and save it" like some fantasy super hero. No, sorry, that's not how it works. Most of them form this opinion from no scientific background, yet say that "there is an enormity of evidence to prove global warming is occurring". In actuality, they know very little. Please read Ron Winter's paper and it will prove this. Please don't take everyone else's views as facts without any scientific proof to back it up (and I mean real scientific proof.)

And furthermore, (again, please take no offense) I hate to say it, but you as an individual will not have any impact on the greenhouse effect of the planet. That's fine if you still want to try to do as much as you can, but no matter if you do or do not...even if you got your entire family and friends to do the same...you will not stop a natural process that these liberals have dubbed "global warming".

These are just my opinions, so again, take no offense. I hope this answered your question!

What's next? Do you really think that next year it will be 60 degrees and then 80 degrees the next winter where you are? Stop being led be your eyes only. This world is a lot bigger than your back yard or even the northeast.
You, along with every one else in the eastern us, are experiencing a seasonal variation due to the jet stream. This has happened many times before and will happen many times again. But, people that are global warming alarmists continue to use this to scare people. Ask the people in the western US if they think there is global warming making them hot this year.

Relax and enjoy!

The planet is going through some major energy shifts of late. This is normal and simply the result of the rapid increase in the consciousness of the planet. This is also causing the oceans to warm up slightly, which has a major affect on weather patterns, and the melting of polar ice caps.

But don't despair, it's part of the process and everything is as it should be. Indeed this is a very exciting time to be alive, some big things are coming down the pipe!

I do believe it is happening but we can't really know the true cause of it because we haven't seen it in our history. It could be a pollution problem that is accelerating a global trend that has happened many times before. Even if you don't believe pollution and hydrocarbons are not the cause, we as a whole should vastly reduce it because it's still not good for you or the planet. Who knows, maybe Cancer rates and other diseases will reduce as well.
