Keep getting trims, that's definitely the best way to keep your hair in the best shape it can be! I had hair that was a lot like yours - overprocessed, dry, too tangly, breaking off, and unhealthy. I did end up cutting eight inches off and dying my hair back to my natural hair color. I didn't color it for two years after that and my hair was a lot healthier. I've tried every shampoo/conditioner there is out there, but my favorite trick is to pick up a tub of hair cholesterol (found in the African-American hair section at a drugstore), work it through my hair in the shower, and leave it on for at least 2 hours then rinse it out. I do that about once a week. It really helps your hair feel supple. As for styling products, use a leave in conditioner after every time you wash your hair (Bumble and Bumble Tonic and Infusium are my favorites), and probably a bit of silicone serum (Laminates Drops is my favorite) to keep your hair feeling good. Good luck!

Unfortunately there's no 'holy grail' shampoo or conditioner that will magically give us beautiful hair. So don't keep spending money on expensive products and treatments. The type of hair we have is genetic. You could very well just have more course hair that feels dry. Or, your hair is very damaged and deprived of moisture due to washing too much, the weather, using too many heat products, etc. Get your hair heathly first. Don't overwash your hair. Once a day is good or every other day. Start taking a daily multivitamin like Centrum for women. Use less heat products or none for a while. Don't put any hair products in/on your hair. Let your hair air dry or get a blow dryer with a cool button. Use a comb instead of brush, and get regular trims every 4-6 weeks. Also try shampooing your hair and leaving it in for 5 minutes, then rinse. Then condition and leave it in for 8 minutes, then rinse. The longer you can leave your conditioner in during your shower, the best.

After a while the highlights should start fading a little bit. then spritz on some volumizing or root lifting spray to add natural looking body to it.

Hey gurl....leave your hair alone for a bit!!! Use a herbal shampoo for a few weeks....dont blow dry....dont comb when wet......give your head an olive oil massage & leave it in for 12 hours (overnight) before shampooing....let it air dry......dont tie your hair...let it get back to normal first...........
AND hey.......drink a lot of water........if your hair gets too stressed, it will all fall out...you surely dont want that to happen??? Carry this on for about two weeks till your hair gets a good vacation....
