We need to do what you are doing here-- spreading the word. For some reason there are still people who tell themselves that global warming doesn't exist or that we are not responsible. The warming right now is much worse than we would see as a result of natural cycles. To stop it, we need to take charge ourselves. We don't have time to wait for politicians to mess around and sidestep the issue any longer. Individuals must change their habits: Buy fluorescent bulbs, drive more efficiently, ditch the SUV, and promote alternative energy. America needs to step up to the plate and make change, becuase we are one of the few countries that really haven't done anything yet. I don't understand why a country that has fought for innovation in the past is just sitting around with old fashioned sources of energy. America invented flight. We built the automobile. We broke the sound barrier. We put men on the moon and robots on mars, yet we still use incandescent lights, coal power plants, and petroleum in our cars. The rest of the world is doing their part to fight global warming, so why aren't we? If you think climate change isn't that bad, try getting your news from somewhere besides corporate media. All of the public media reports on this stuff, and so do stations in other countries around the world. The lack of interest on this topic seems to be an American thing, and we are the ones in position to make a difference.

Thank you for posting this great question.

It will take a global effort. The biggest emitters of greenhouse gas will be the developing nations. More developed nations could certainly reduce their own emissions, but it won't mean very much for the atmosphere if China begins to pump tons and tons of carbon into the air. And, really, there is no legitimate reason to require China to forgo their chance at industrial development, just like every other nation. It will take international aid to developing countries to incentivize clean energy. If this step is not taken, Kyoto Protocols will not solve anything.

It's not only pollution. Simply by conserving power and switching the light bulbs in your home to fluorescence will help slow global warming. A lot of energy comes from power plants that burn coal and gas and when they are burned it realeases CO2 that effect the Ozone. Other ways could be grow some plants, and find a way for cars to run on more enviroment friendly fuels.

Boycott all companies that outsource labor to countries with lax environmental controls.

Every time you see a "Made In China" sticker, consider the amount of pollutants Chinese factories create. The lack of environmental regulations contributes significantly to the lower cost of production; it's one of the primary reasons so many of America's manufacturing jobs have gone overseas.

Plant trees to help clean the air. Come down hard on polluters , car companies need to come up with cleaner solutions for cars, trucks and buses, manufactures need to clean up their act. People need to limit their use of toxic chemicals like bug sprays, paints and fertilizers and people really need to stop using aerosol cans. Spread the word everyone and help us save the planet------It's important!!
