I find a lot of the statements made in the Bible to be paternalistic, and misogynist. There is some discussion of misogyny in religion here:

If it were a male chauvinist work then wouldn’t it make the woman the first sinner? Eve was deceived and that’s why she was part of the fall. Anyway, there are many women of faith and valor in the bible, and I believe many are given a higher place of honor there than women attain to today with all that has happened.

Do you mean the equivalent of feminism?? I do believe the Bible is anti-feminism, but it is not chauvinistic. God gives women a place of great honor and totally respects them. God picked man to be the final word in a marriage or as a father, but that is just logistics. The rest of his responsibilities are to lay down his own life for the good of his family. The women are to be loved above themselves. I think that is awesome!
Feminism is an evil thing that has women trying to take over a role they were not meant for. Equality is great, but to shove men out of their God-given position is extremely dangerous to society. Feminism has led to a large group of boys who never grew up and took responsibility for their lives.

no, I believe that some male chauvinists twisted it around to make it say what they wanted to believe. They took no cultural or linguistic differences into account to get the point of what the "male chauvinists" were saying, but took everything as literal and applicable to every society in every century. If you read it to get the basic message and read it keeping different cultures in mind, you actually find it to be quite progressive and liberating.

No, The bible and its teachings held women in high regard for that time period and teach people how to treat each other with respect and within the family structure and the church.
As for Feminism that was one of the worst things to ever influence this country.

Only someone who hasn't read the Bible would ask that question. After His resurrection, Jesus first appeared to women, and had them spread the word. Jesus spoke to the Seminarian woman at the well, and she told others she found the Christ. In the OT, it was Rahab who saved the Israeli spies. There are numerous places where woman are exalted. Read the Bible for yourself, then make comments based on something you know, and not what you heard from some Atheists.

Absolutely! The only women who stood up for themselves or tried to be equal to men in their society were scorned as demons or whores.
