praying for them is part of what saves us! it's called compassion and concern for the welfare of another without any gain for your own. God bless us, every one.

It is true that God has given people free will, and he doesnt force them to become a christian. It is not true that he has people on a check list and even if they dont accept christ they will still be secure. "No one comes to the Father accept through me" jesus said. so why do we care if anyone becomes a christian? becuase this life is but a void. it only lasts so long, and then eternity sets in. do you want your spouse, best friend or daughter to spend eternity suffering and in pain, or walking on streets of gold and having everlasting happiness? if you dont care about these two options i believe that you need to take some time out to think about your life. so fellow christians, continue praying for the salvation of others and walking in truth.

God has chosen to work through mankind. He can do this without us but I believe in this instance, we need to have "God's heart" and see Acts 17:30 come to fulfillment.
Jesus had this compassion and Christians need to be Christ-like.
Prayer is two way communication, not one way.
Also see Revelation 5:8. You will notice "prayer bowls." Sometimes these bowls aren't fill with one prayer. It takes many prayers to fill some of these bowls.
Persistance and love.

i do believe in God's sovereignity, but to say that God will save only those he chooses is against scripture.
john 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that *WHOSOEVER* believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
whosoever means anyone that chooses...
and if you think that God will only choose certain people due to the heretical view of calvinism then everyone is saved due to what the bible says in 2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, but that all should come to repentance.. but no one is saved unless they amke a decision for christ as seen in john 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
bottom line- salvation is a free gift. its not dictated that anyone be saved, but the punishment for rejecting this offer is. The choice is yours heaven or hell.

Luke 19:10
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). "For He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" (II Corinthians 5:21).
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
The Lord is...not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (II Peter 3:9)
.I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
HE died for all people .....

You can't get someone saved just by praying for them if their heart isn't in it, but at the same time you can guide them in the right direction, and God can do the rest.

You misunderstand the purpose of prayer. Prayer does not change God's mind. It changes you. It teaches you to be humble, and reliant upon Him. It gives you peace within your own heart by allowing you to pour out your worries and concerns and hopes to God.
The way we should pray for others is to pray for God's will in their life. Even if God's will is difficcult for us to accept.

It's called faith. God has power over everything, but he allows man to have his own free will.
