The first thing to do is give him Benadryl to help ease the discomfort.

Has he recently eaten something different? Was he exposed to chemicals or cleaning products? Did you use a different shampoo or hygiene product on him? Did the vet recently put him on a certain new medicine? Did he recently get shots? These questions may help you figure out the source of the problem.

If you can't think of any reason for it then I would take him to the vet as soon as possible. Best of luck but remember to give Benadryl until he sees the vet.

Bulldogs can sometimes have allergies, and that's what he might be suffering from.

Sounds like it's time for a trip to the vet...they'll definitely be able to give you insight.

Give a Benadryl tablet NOW...which can help lessen these attacks.
