My daughter is 5 and loves tinkerbell. Decided to do her room under that theme, however most of the colors are fairly dark.(purple, pink, green, etc) Will that make her room look smaller?

Maybe you can use pastel colors of pink, green, or purple. Or paint just the top portion of the wall in a lighter hue and paint the lower portion in one of the darker colors you mentioned and a border or chair rail in the middle.

"Darker colors create intimacy. They also make a room appear smaller, which is ideal for larger areas. Dark colors draw you into a room, or create a small, intimate place.

Lighter colors provide a room with an open, airy feel and can make rooms appear larger."

Always go with light colors. The darker the color the smaller the room will seem. Most rooms have walls that are darker than other walls because they don't get the light from outside shining on them so I would go a shade lighter on those walls!!You can use any color you like just keep it light for sure the ceiling. If you make the ceiling lighter than the walls this to will give you a sense of height. The room will definitely seem bigger.

Usually dark colors make a room look smaller. Since your daughter likes tinkerbell, why not paint the walls the light blue like her outfit. You could also have some white trim or border around the top of the wall by the ceiling as well. Have fun with it and check around on websites to see if you can find some tinkerbell bedroom furniture to put into it. Check out the website Tystoybox.com where you can find lots of different childrens characters and see if you can find any tinkerbell items there. They sell things from toys to clothes, games, and yep even some furniture. Good luck and hope this helps!

Most likely But try to paint the walls with a stripe and switching out the colors of dark and light.I have a very small bathroom with no window but I did a base coat of light pink with dark pink, black, and green stripes and it really made it look good and bigger

Go with the tinkerbell theme cuz she will adore it! Darker walls might make the room feel COZY! You can always lighten up with the curtains, bedding, throw rugs, and lamps. If you chicken out on painting the walls dark, you can always just do the ceiling in a dark navy blue with tiny white stars. Have fun!

that's easy, now that you have a theme,go to Lowe's where they have the best paint and the best colors you could ever want.i have been a painter for 35 years and have worked for Lowe's and even though they treated me bad, they do have the best colors for a child's room.paint the ceiling a bright white first, then take a pencil and draw a line in the corners so you will have a line to cut in to to achieve a clean cut professional look.i would not be too exact, because children grow and colors and taste change.do what she wishes and be ready to kiltz at a later date.one thing i did once was to take a picture out of a coloring book, took it to a printer and they made me a transparency, and i then rented a projector like they use in school and projected it on the wall, where i drew it on the wall and then painted it.also, i would often blow glitter on certain areas for sparkle, like at the end of the magic wand.
