I've looked into so many paranormal and magic claims and they are ALL bullsh!t. Why then do people say they're true? And why not friggin' prove it? Sheesh... let's see some PROOF and not just some silly words like 'It is true and it's deep and it's profound and you need to enter the deep circle of the nine sheepherders'

there is a positive correlation between age, education, and belief in the paranormal (excluding religion--religion did not correlate with the other paranormal beliefs). A lot of it is people who just have not learned critical thinking skills.

For the same reason people who practice some forms of Christianity think that Jesus will heal cancer or they won't get poisoned from a snake bite.
Some stuff just wasn't meant to be "proven'. It's a matter of faith, and everyone, no matter their religion, has to have faith.
I personally see "magic" every day when I breathe, digest food, move....when I can hit a few keys and talk to people far far away...the world is "magic" to me.
Quit worrying about proving others wrong, and try to search for your vision of truth.

I understand the reason you're making this argument. It's because people are always asking Christians for proof in god here on yahoo answers, right? However, it's not exactly the same thing. Christianity is a religion that encourages it's followers to convert people. And god knows you people certainly work up a sweat trying. So, when you're trying to convert people and screaming about fire and brimstone, it's natural for people to respond by questioning your beliefs, and one thing they may say to you is that they will not convert, because they do not feel there in sufficient proof to convince them.

Pagans, on the other hand, do not really get a lot of pressure to convert people. In fact, many Wiccans believe that they are NOT to try to convert people. "People seek out Wicca, Wicca does not seek out people" is a common saying, which reminds us to respect other's rights to practice their own faith, and to not try to convert them.

So no, I cannot give you proof when it comes to my beliefs. Most of them I have arrived at from personal spiritual experiences. Since there's no way of duplicating those for you, I cannot give you proof.

However, since I have no interest in converting you, I really am not obligated to give you any "proof", now am I?

All reality is made of atoms which are 99.9999% empty space
and the only possibly real aspect is a nucleus and electron
constituency that have no mass, occupies no volume, and have no weight. In other words there not even there and yet they make up everything, and personally I think that's a pretty good magic trick

People will believe what they want to believe with or without proof. When Columbus knew the world was round, he could prove, but people didn't believe because they didn't want to. We are all free thinkers, and therefore some will think correctly and some will think wrong. The better quesion is what do you think and why does this bother you so much?

If you'd like to meet me at my house, I'll take you over to my parents and show you how the swivel rocker rotates by itself and if you ask nicely, the ghost will turn the light on or off, or the tv. It will even open a door for you. But don't put down any personal belongings because the ghost will hide it from you.

What texts did you read? Where's your bibliography of scientific psi research that you examined? I don't think you've really read any of it.

Dean Radin, "The Conscious Universe"
David Ray Griffin, "Parapsychology, Philosophy, and Spirituality"

Give them a try. It's worth the effort. And very interesting.

And don't even get me started on the paranormal implications of quantum nonlocality.

In order to prove something is "scientifically real" you have to be able to recreate it in a controlled lab setting. With things like the paranormal/magic that's not possible.

You can prove it through pictures, sometimes a tape of voices, but would you truly believe it...... no. Basically it's spiritual proof, the person that's gifted or the person that's experiencing it knows it's true, they felt it or seen it...... I have all my life, as real as God is, since I felt his presence intervene to me, and I felt what God said..... I knew it was him, happy and warm feeling in and around me, and felt his presence above and to the left, and felt him say,"I am happy with you" and it was in the moment of truth and compassion in my heart.
Believe it or not.

Just because something can't be proven by cold hard science to your satisfaction doesn't make it fake. And maybe we don't feel the need to try to "prove" it to people who are probaly going to find ways to dismiss it anyway...so why bother?
