I'm considering visiting Barcelona over Spring Break and I was wondering how easy it would be to go to Rome for a day or two. Any help you could provide is much appreciated. :)

There is a ferry from that runs a regular route from Barcelona to Civitavecchia, about an hour's drive northwest of Rome. It takes 21 hours each way, and the fare is about €88 round-trip for a pullman seat (more for a cabin or berth).

From Civitavecchia, you can take a train or bus into Rome. Transport to the city: Trains from Civitavecchia to Rome run approximately every 30 minutes and the journey lasts about one hour depending on what sort of train it is. From Civitavecchia train station the port is a short taxi or (free) shuttle ride away. A first-class ticket on an Intercity train costs €9.30, while a second-class one-way ticket costs about €7.

Civitavecchia is where the ports are that serve cruise ships that visit Rome, so it's easy to get to and from Rome from the ferry dock.
