We're both still very young, both 23. Yes High school sweethearts! We now live together for almost a year, share bank accounts...pretty much married just without all the legalities. We've talked about it of coarse. I just don't know how much longer I can wait!? I do love him so much and that should be enough.
I'm not looking for validation, just want some other thoughts.
It's not like I'm going to leave him just because someone on 'yahoo' thought it would be for the best....lol. No worries.
Just tell me what you think.

I feel for you... My now husband and I lived together for about 2 years before he bought a ring and popped the question and then waited almost another 3 years before we sealed the deal. So I totally know where your coming from! I just told myself at some point early into our relationship, that I was not going to be the one to push the issue or put pressure on him. I felt like it would mean more to him and be more sincere if it was on his own accord. (Which is totally out of character for me, I tend to be a bit more bossy or pushy.) So, I waited and waited, not always as patiently as I should've but I really wanted it to be a pressure free decision on his part. I did tell him on a few occasions that "I did not want to spend my life being unmarried and that if he had not made the choice to marry me by the 5th year mark then I would see no reason for us to ever marry". I didn't exactly say that I was going to leave him if he did not marry me, just that if we hadn't reached that point by the end of year 5 I thought it was not meant to be...and marriage was something that I wanted in my future. He got the hint and made up his mind without constant reminders or me asking when he was gonna make the move.
I am really glad that I waited it out...it was more than worth it!
You do what your heart tells you, you should know if it's meant to be!

Well why don't you just get married? Is he scared? If he scared because he's so young then he may grow out of it. If he's the type of guy that never wants to get married then you may have a problem because he isn't open to change. If you want different things then you'll have problems..... But if he just hasn't thought about it then I'd bring it up and ask. Have a real discussion and get real answers.

It would depend on the quality of the relationship and how long we'd been together. Generally speaking, age 25 or older is a good age to marry in my own opinion.

Whoa! Sounds like the two of you are really serious! Remember that saying "good things come to those who wait"? I think your probably just getting a little impatient.. and you still have to think you guys are ONLY 23!! Lol.. your still very young.. i think you should just be patient and let him propose when the time is right... Good luck to the two of you!

I'm not trying to be mean, but, I think you should protect yourself and start separating your finances right now. You are playing house with no legal protections. Not smart.
I don't really expect you to take my advice, but I really wish I could hear from you again in 10 years. I've seen this pattern repeat itself so many times, I could almost write your story. Best of luck to you.

I think that you should wait for him because you have been together for a hot minute already. plus you said that you to are basically married already so that should be good enough for you until you get the real thing. besides some states have and honor common law marriages so maybe you & him are already married!!

In ways your common law-ed married! But has he given you reason why he wont propose? Has there been any unfaithfulness or lies?
I would give it time..your both still young! There is plenty of time to get married and have kids..
wish you the best of luck!

Honestly only you can answer that. You two seem to be deeply commited to one another, so give it time. Marriage is a lifetime! He could just be waiting on the right time, if there ever is one. Sometimes marriage can scare people, cause when things go wrong you can't just walk away ya know. Take everyday as it comes and just be glad you have a man that is dedicated to you and is totally by your side

well...honey...
u ask for ur opinion...but its seems like u already have ur mind made up!
in this day and age...living with a man seems acceptable...
but it is only the man who benefits!
he gets all the benefits of having a woman...someone to cook..clean for him...someone to sleep with...
without claiming you!
i take it as a sign that...the man does that want to fully commit to you for a reason!
u deserve better than that!...dont waste all ur youth..on a man who doesnt want to fully commit
oblivious it bothers you...what r u gaining from this?

Whenever you feel ready. Is there any reason to rush it? If not, wait to you're financially stable. And before to do it, make sure you discuss the big stuff....children & rearing them, religion, where to live, ethics in general....Good luck
