A friend and I were talking about Adam and Eve. And how we suffer for what happened back then. And I got to wondering Since it was humans who messed up. Why do animals suffer as well. They did nothing wrong. Other than a snake. But that also wasn't really the snakes fault that he had gotten possessed by the devil. So why do animals go through depression and pain as much or maybe more than humans?

The innocent are always at the receiving end. Think about children who are victimized by their parents' sins. God never wanted it this way. Adam and Eve were responsible for the entire earth.

Everything on this earth suffers from that choice. Sin is intoxication; it has repercussions. If one drops a drop of liquid poison into a glass of water the poison disperses, and whatever portion of the water you drink you will drink with some poison. In the same way two choices affected Adam and Eve for their whole lives, and the rest of creation. Of course we carry on the unfortunate tradition. If you read through the Bible you will find that the empathy for animals is not as common as it is in the world now. In fact, God ordered the Israelites to sacrifice “innocent” animals in order to atone for their own sin (one of many instances: Leviticus 1:3-7). Animals might not have the capacity to understand the concept of sin, but they are not necessarily blameless. Male bears will many times kill and eat their own cubs. Tribes of chimps will go out on what will seem like a hunting party just to track down another chimp from another tribe and kill it, then go back to their own territory and go back to their own business. You can call that “instinct” or something but I see it as the effects of sin. I would assume that bears or chimps did not do those things in the Garden of Eden. All I can understand from what I read is that sin has reproductions, even some which seem unjust. However, justice is for God to decide.

I live in the country and have never seen a depressed bird or a snake cursing the ground it was crawling on. The only neurotic animals I've seen are the ones that live with neurotic humans. How about you if you think about it?

It goes beyond that, the whole universe has been corrupted because of sin. Romans 8:22 "For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. 23 And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body."

Animals suffer when the human does not provide the proper administration of the earth as we should. It has nothing to do with anything else.

You don't really know its just Gods way. I've wondered that same question myself. Its the same as when babys get aborted the didn't do anything wrong and yet they have to die for it because they came when their parents didn't want them.

Romans 5:12
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

Blessed is He in Whose hand is the Kingdom, and He has power over all things;

Who has created death and life that He might try you -which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving ;

Who has created seven heavens in harmony. No incongruity canst thou see in the creation of the Gracious God. Then look again. Seest thou any flaw?

Aye, look again, and yet again, thy sight will only return unto thee confused and fatigued, having seen no incongruity.

We gave Solomon the right understanding of the matter and to each of them We gave wisdom and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains and the birds to David to celebrate God's praises with him. And it was We Who did all these things.

Do they not see the birds above them, spreading out their wings in flight and then drawing them in to swoop down upon the prey? None withholds them but the Gracious God, He sees all things well.
