Just got home from watching 2 year old GC and was reading her tube of Toddler toothpaste and this is what it says: "You'll love having your child brush w/ oral gel Toddler Paste because it helps clean teeth with special ingredient. Best of all it is floride free so it's safe to swallow. It has a special breath freshners & added calcium. Directions: Brush teeth throughly after meals or at least twice a day. Then it says: "WARNING: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN" Doesn't this seem really stupid or is it just me???

No it is not weird. Kids, especially that age seem to do the strangest things with what they can get their hands on. Doesn't the little one have to stand on something while brushing??? what if they are alone trying to brush and fall, bust their mouth. Squirt too much down their throat and suffocate or choke cause their windpipe is clogged. That's why big people that know all about those things are around. Crazy things happen every second. That's what emergency rooms are full of. OOOps & wasn't looking.

Think of it this way, that same or similar warminig is on the plastic bag that toys come in right????

Might be odd to you but Not Everyone pays attention like you do.
Keep up the good work!

Yes, it's to advise you that your child shouldn't think this a lolly and can eat as much as they like. Of course it's aimed for the parents!
On another note, a lack of fluoride will mean that your GC will not be getting full protection. Nowadays, so many people are mistakenly giving their children sweet drinks (juices, cordials, sodas) that your GC need all the protection they can get from fluoridated water and fluoridated toothpastes.
The calcium will have no effect at all in protecting their teeth, and is a nonsense advert to attract customers.

It has nothing to do with proof reading. It is safe for the child to use but they want you to keep it out of reach of children so that they do not eat it or use is excessively. It is just for their protection. It is completely safe to use as directed.

Well, I can remember when my kid sister started with the toothbrushing and she got the tube and was eating the whole thing because it tasted minty. So to keep a kid from eating the whole tube of paste keep it out of her reach

Ah, yes, excessive warnings. That's probably to circumvent lawsuits from parents whose kids sit down and eat the whole tube and get sick.

I guess its because it tastes ok that kids may be tempted to eat the entire thing in one go an that may cause problems.

I agree with the others and with you. It's stupid, but that doesn't mean it is perfectly harmless for your child if it was taken in large amounts. I'd listen to the warning, but you already know that ;)

I love it! That just goes to show that someone didn't proof read the box before having it printed. I would call them and let them know...I would also suggest that they give you a box of it for letting them know of this bungle!
