I would definitely quit - smoking can't possibly cure the cancer or help it, it can only make it worse. Why not live the last 5 years of your life as healthy as possible? And if you dislike the fact that you're smoking, then quit so you die with no (or at least fewer) regrets.
Even if you don't want to do it for yourself, think about your loved ones, who certainly care about the extra hours, days, weeks, or months, that quitting could afford you.

Probably try to quit but then the nerves would probably be worse and then I would most likely start again. The thruth of the matter is most smokers want to quit but thier nerves cant take it and trust me neither can the people around them. My family wants me to quit but they dont understand how bad it is and how you really have to leave mommy alone wink wink. Ever seen a crazy nicotine fit (ive had many of them-omg). I tell my children this the only way to truly quit is to never start. The patch does help but only when your on it afterthat its nuts. If they invented some alternative to smoking a nicotine pill or something, id go for that for sure.

Whilst most people assume quitting is best I wonder because if you have a sudden change in your system after many years maybe the shock of stopping will cause more problems for eg my grandmother was an alcoholic and chain smoker she quit and was dead in 12 months coincidence maybe but I wonder if anyone has actually researched the sudden stopping of lifetime habits like that, personally though if I was told I was going to be gone then I would pursue quality of life whatever that was to me personally.

My dad was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (blood/bone cancer) back in Nov. of 2004. He was given 3-5 years. He was a life long smoker since the age of 12. He quit smoking in March of 2006. He passed away Aug. 27th of 2006. I miss him dearly.

Well if i was a smoker i dont think it would be too easy to quit so if i had 5 yrs to live i'd probably live it up and still keep on smoking.

I would quit. Who knows, you may increase your chances of overcoming the cancer. If not, it just might help you to live a longer and healthier life.

If I were a smoker, I would keep on doing what makes me happy. I already smoked my life away, why quit now?

If i'm going to live exactly 5 years either way, why go through quitting? I'd do what makes me happy. Cigarettes, beer, fried chicken- whatever i wanted!
