Booster cables, tire pump, travel candles, waterproof matches, aluminum cup (you can use it over a candle to melt snow for water), candy such as jelly beans (quick sugar helps counteract hypothermia), blanket, a hat such as a toque (you lose most heat through your head), flashlight, instant soup packets, dried fruit and nuts, waterproof poncho, shovel.

Jumper cables.
Extended lug wrench (For the last time you took it to the shop, and they used an impact wrench to tighten the lug nuts, and now you can't remove them from your flat tire).
Flashlight (usually, by the time you need to use it, the batteries are dead, so the have a light with a hand crank and a magneto, that uses no batteries)
A cigarette lighter adapter to run your cell phone, if it's battery goes dead, so you can call for help.
Space blanket, to keep warm in cold weather.
A blanket to kneel/lay on while changing a flat.
A cheap, disposable camera (with flash) to take pictures in case of an accident.
Forget tire repair kit, where do you plan to get the air from? Make sure spare is in good shape/aired up.
Freon powered air horn, to call for help if off road/in a ditch.

Something to think about, what I use instead of a tire repair kit is the can of inflate a tire. It will air up your tire and fix the flat at one time without taking off the tire, until you can get to a garage....
