You say you wash it weekly and keep it moist? I'm not insulting your hygeine routine (Geisha also used to wash their hair once a week) but its possible that you've developed a bacterial or fungal infection on your scalp. That can also cause hair loss.

Also, I didn't used to believe stress could cause hair loss. Until it happened to my sis when she was 18. I did some research and discovered that stress disrupts growth cycles. It said that a stressful event can cause hair loss to occur three months later. Interestingly, my sis had broken up with her boyfriend three months earlier and had been very angsty about it. The same thing happened again years later. She broke up with her college boyfriend (break-ups are especially hard for her) and three months later, she started losing hair.

But the shedding stopped on its own and she never got bald patches or anything.

Here are some other causes:
1. Male/Female Pattern Baldness-Everyone experiences it to some degree if they live long enough. Usually starts in middle age for females and early twenties for males. For females, hair loss starts on top of the head and generally all-over in a diffuse pattern. For males, starts at temples.
2. Alopecia areata--autoimmune disease. Patchy hair loss. Treatments, but no cure. May go away on its own, but may come back. In about 2% of population.
3. Alopecia globalis--autoimmune disease. RARE. I doubt you have this, but I'm trying to include everything. Hair loss over entire body.
4. Thyroid disorder? Thyroid disorder medication?
5. Antidepressents, like Zoloft.
6. Medications for Sickle Cell Anemia.
7. Not enough or too much Vitamin A. Not enough Vit. B. Not enough Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Not enough fat. Not enough protein. Low-carb diets can cause hair loss!
8. Hair loss after pregnancy. Common!
9. Excessive use of hair dye or at-home straightening systems like "Easy Straight".

If I had to guess, I'd say you're suffering from stress, dietary problems, or side-effects of a medication. Most people who post here are too young to have male/female pattern hair loss and alopecia areata/globalis isn't that common. So calm down and see a dermatologist. I'm younger than you and I lose hairs like that all the time. Your hair is made up of dead cells, and the fall out sometimes. Just because some fall out every day doesn't mean you are going bald. So, I would say what you are going through is perfectly natural.

Well, stress does have alot to do with your body. it will make it unbalanced and could cause hairloss and other things. I have a friend that has the same problem and she found out it was one of her medicine's side-effects. But, go to the doctor, tell he/she what is going on and they would prescribe something. If you dont feel safe with doing that, then I would suggest getting some hair growth products, sit down and relax.
