If you can try to cut the toenail to a flat edge. No points to dig into skin. And soaking your foot will help soften the skin/nail to make it easier to deal with. If it's looking red, you should soak it with Epsom salt to help prevent infection. It'll take some time to grow past the area that is tender. If it's too painful then make an appointment to have it removed. My son had to do this a few times. It hurt when it was being done, but he said it felt so much better afterwards. But he kept getting them so we had it permanently done. No more ingrown toe nails!!!

I know what you are referring to. Sometimes it is possible to carefully cut the sharp point (the part cutting into your toe). If you can't manage this without causing damage to the flesh, then try to allow it to grow out. It's an aggravating and painful few days, but it will straighten out. Be sure to clean the area often. I use 92% isopropyl alcohol to sterilize the sore part, and put a band-aid on the toe after the alcohol treatment. Repeat this as often as you can. In a few days it should improve.

if ti gets infected only surgery can help you. but hurry cause anesthesia usually doesn't work on infected parts of body. and it will hurt you like hell. try to keep the toe in a clean and sterile environment if it is possible. maybe it won't get infected. if you notice things, like swallowing, redness or pus in that area i suggest that you go and see a doctor.

I'm a nurse. You have to go to the doctor and have it removed. Also you need an antibiotic for infection. Please be seen, it can turn fatal. You see any untreated infection can get into your bloodstream (septic) and kill you. I know it seems like nothing to worry about, but it is.
