They are making a sound like as if they see someone hot. They have been saying it to each other even when i'm not there. What kind of call is this?
Please no bad answers.

I know exactly what sound you are talking about - my cockatiel who recently passed away would make that sound all the time (like woot-wooooooo!) I don't know what it is called or exactly why they do it, but if we did it to him he would respond back with it and he was a single bird, so it's not something they do only with other birds...

It is a whistle that they learn from humans--not a natural cockatiel call (those are the little shrieks or warbles they do). It doesn't have any real "meaning", they just do it to entertain themselves and sometimes to get attention (my cockatiel saves it for when she really wants to play because she knows I or some other human will respond).

They are whistling just the way they are supposed to. I have two male Cockatiels and they do the same thing. They could of heard it else where and picked it up. The males whistle alot. Typical.
When mine whistle like that, I just say, thankyou.

It's my understanding that the males are the most vocal because they try to attract females. My cockatiel used to make a similar call, and I just chalked it up to the fact that it was instinctual.

my african grey parrots do this all the time its just a normal sound they make. my vet told me once they get a sound in their head its like a tape recording, and just because you dont hear them use it for a while doesnt mean they forgot it.

I think you're referring to a wolf whistle.
