I have an excel file that has about 30,000 cells containing names.

How can I quickly change the font color of all the cells depending upon what word is in the cell.

For example, is there a way to search for the word John amonst the 30,000 cells. Anywhere the word John is found, the font color is changed to red. Another example would be anywhere the word Bob is found, that word font color would be changed to green.

Thank you

You can not do this in formula.
And, Conditional formatting will not allow you to format a single word in the cell, Conditional Formatting will allow you to change the format of the cell (Whole cell) depends on cell value

If Conditional Formatting is not what you need, than mail me to send you the macro to do this

It is a VBA macro so I can customize it to what you want and more

Try conditional formatting. Click on the box in betwee the rows and columns so you highlight the entire page. Then go to the format menu and select conditional format. When the box pops up, select the "equal to" option, then type in John, and click on format, on font, select the color you want John to be, then click on add and do the same thing for the other names. I just tried it to make sure I was giving you valid info, it works.

try making a formula, then find the name and replace all. it is a guess, but it seems logical. However not sure it is a fix. Can it be added to the macro?
