But no matter what I tell her, she insists on her high-heeled sandals. She says she CAN'T and WON'T wear flat shoes.

Since before I knew her, May has always worn 4" stiletto sandals. She wears them EVERYDAY and looks gorgeous, but they're already starting to damage her feet (she's 21 now):

1. When she's barefoot at home, she walks on *tiptoe*. She says it hurts for her to walk normally, on flat feet. Even when she's sitting, her bare feet are bent as if she were wearing heels. Again, she says it hurts for her feet to be flat on the floor.

2. Her arches and calves cramp every night. I massage them and help her soak them in hot water.

When I worry, she just hugs me, smiles, and says she doesn't care.

She tells me that I should keep massaging her feet and she'll hold onto me for support when she tiptoes...

Yeah, she's very cute and melts my heart, but I DON'T want her to damage her feet! She's 21, not 70!

What can I do??

Well, if she refuses to stop wearing them, there's not a lot you can do for her. However, have you tried getting her some insoles to help provide some padding to slow the damage down?

what you can do is to tell her that you are worried that she is going to end up in a wheel chair because of the heels. you can suggest to her that she works her way down to a smaller heel that won't hurt her all the time. She doesn't have to wear flats, you're not trying to take away her femininity, you're just trying to save her feet later. When she starts wearing smaller heels you'll find and so will she that she feels sexier and more confident. I suggest you go out and buy her a pair of smaller heels and challenge her to try them on and see how she feels after she wears them a little while

She needs to stop wearing them asap, if it hurts her to walk flat-footed. When a woman wears high heels too often, over time, her hamstrings begin to shorten, making it painful to walk with her feet flat. Heels also cause lower back probems as the spine is pushed out of its regular shape. This happened to a friend of mine- she needed serious surgury and months of physical therapy before she could walk at all without being in agony. Your girlfriend is headed down the same path- at the very least, get her to wear heels shorter then 4 inches!

shes asian. they never quit wearing them. they find a way to live. maybe try and get her to wear theraputic shoes/slippers around the house. but outside the house, forget it.

oh yeah.maybe buy her the 3" platform sneakers. the real cutesy ones. put supportive insoles in there. thats the only way she will ever wear sneakers.

Buy her a real nice expensice pair of sneakers... it worked for my wife. Tell her she better wear them because you paid good money for her comfort. :)

Take her to a podiatrist. Maybe he can talk some sense into her.
