If you have this question, go read the very short Book of James! It will give you so much wisdom and clarity about ANYTHING to do with temptation!!! I LOVE IT!!!
My answer is that NO God doesn't tempt you, He tests you if He loves you and the Holy Spirit CONVICTS you as the testing goes on. The FLESH tempts you!! The natural part of us, the flesh tempts. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak! The enemy provides temptation presented sometimes to us a Godly test. That is why the bible says, "test the spirit by the spirit" so we are wise to know the difference between TESTING and TEMPTING! There is a nuanced but very different ... difference.
God never gives us more than what we have the strength to bear. Does this answer you? Have you picked up that Word yet?

Even if their was a god, no one can provide evidence of him. The bible isn't considered proof because it was written by man not god many years after it supposedly happened. Because of this, people that follow religions practice faith. Faith is the belief in a higher power without any factual evidence. So even if you are a christian and believe that god does tempt us, there is no way to provide the evidence to back up that claim.

God is not some old man in the sky with a beard and flowing robes that manipulates humans. The very idea is ludicrous. You are God. I am God. Everything and everyone are God. God is not something separate. God is within. Without. God is not omnipotent, God is omnipotence itself. Omniscience not omniscient. Omnipresence not some separate omnipresent being. We are all One. God. So the answer is no. By the way, the Bible is not the only source of some truth, just as Jesus is not the only guide. Every work or person that ever sought sincerely for Truth has some to offer.

Hello =)
Well...
One would have to determine the definition of "Tempt"...I suppose..
I think most Modern Jews and Kabbalists would answer "yes definitely"...
But, as one of the early answerers pointed out, James, Brother of Christ emphatically answered "No"..... James was a Kabbalistic Jew, BTW.....LOL
Christ certainly never tempted anyone.....that's for certain..
But one has to wonder, as in the case of the Story of Job, or even the story of Abraham....if God wasn't "testing" to the point of temptation....what if these men had failed the test?? Would that have not been succumbing to temptation?? Surely these tests were both cruel and unusual. I surely would have failed either test, and would have been tempted by the welfare of my family....my child..... in that way, I would think the answer would be a qualified, yes.....
Namaste,
--Tom

No. God will not tempt us to Sin.
We are tempted when we are drawn away by our own lusts.

God does not tempt any man - Satan is the tempter. Temptation comes from Satan - NOT God. James 1:13, 14 - Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 - But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

God won't let us take more than we can handle. He won't torture us with temptation.
Satan is the one who tempts us.
Remember when Jesus was tempted by the satan?

I believe the temptor is Satan. He may test us, but tempt never. HE already knows how susceptible to temptation we are.
