I often hear people give out generic advice like, "practice a lot" but what exactly are you supposed to be practicing? The fastest and most efficient way to improve at pool is to get lessons from a quality, certified instructor. If there is such a thing as a "shortcut", this is it. There are books and videos available as well, and some are pretty good, but they should be used as a supplement to formal instruction. Go to the BCA website to find an instructor in your area. A lot of it will boil down to just how strong is your desire to improve. If you only want to get better to win a bet, then I'll tell you right away that you're going to become frustrated very quickly. If you truly love and enjoy the game and are willing to dedicate some time and money, then the sky's the limit. Don't short change yourself when it comes to your pool game. Best of luck. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

There is no quick way to get good, but if you take your time on every shot, and focus on that shot, it will help a lot. This advice is often given to experienced players as well, it seems to be natural that people want to get a shot over with and move on, also sometimes people get excited and rush a shot. When you really concentrate on a shot making it happen is natural.

Pool is all about angles. Try to imagine lines between the cue ball and the other balls. Imagine the angles that will put the ball in the hole. Also, make sure to hit the cue right in the middle (you can hit other places on the cue ball, but that's more for advanced play).

Ooh, you two are rough. It's good if you can hit hard, make a good angle to hit the ball in the hole and get near the other ball you want to hit, jump the white ball over the other ball, and make a good angle of reflection on the "walls". If he is that good, you might need to search Yahoo!

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get down to about eye level. Make sure that you are holding the cue properly and hit the center of the ball. Make sure that you are holding the cue steadily. Try to get different angles on the ball to get it to go in a direction you want.

Practice is best. You need to be able to know exactly where your shot will go and where each rebound will impact
