If you do tell me... and I'll see if you're right. State where you are from, your age, and if you know what grits are, how you like 'em.

Yes. I know what grits are

Grits- A ground, usually white meal of dried and hulled corn kernels that is boiled and served as a breakfast food or side dish.

FL for most of my life;family from NYmetro area, over 30.

How I like my grits...you may or may not enjoy this story.

When I first tried grits many years ago I insisted on putting sweetner on them; they tasted nasty. I was told I eat grits like a yankee(southerner told me this). Calling someone a yankee was meant to be an insult. So I took pride that I was eating them like they were cream of wheat(yankee equivalent to grits). A few years ago a coworker (a friendly southerner) told me how they are eaten. I thought maybe I will them again. While cooking the grits with my coworkers advice. I added a little whipping cream with milk, grated cheese(either romano or parmesan). If I make them with eggs I put cheddar cheese on them. Never velveeta.

Grits are corn meal mush. Often served with eggs and other breakfast dishes.

Its very similar to the Italian "polenta"

We're not real big on grits in Oklahoma, its more of a southeastern thing.
