define "danger"...you can google crime stats, but that's only part of the picture. traffic is dangerous and we've got the highest insurance rates in the nation to prove it. child prostitution is the highest in the nation because of the "nice" big airport.
but one man's danger is another man's cup of tea. there are places my friends would go that i wouldn't and visa-versa. for example i'm not so fond of Virginia Highland area after I found the naked body of a dead woman while out jogging and that's considered a "nice" area. as with any big city, you have to follow standard guidelines re: safety issues. Don't get paranoid though, most of ATL crimes are committed against other ATL citizens...not it's visitors.
So try to see it all. ATL has much to offer.
ps. ATL is Fulton County. Dekalb Co, boardering ATL, has the highest number of cases of police brutality in the nation...and the breakdown on those statics-black on black. But that doesn't mean if you're not black and they aren't black, that it couldn't happen to you. remember the average IQ of a cop is 108-they have weapons and they are rarely convicted or held accountable for actions that would send anyone else to the po-po. And don't speed 20 miles over the speed limit-"aggressive driving" is an automatic arrest with car tow. So if you should happen to meet one of Dekalb's or ATLs finest, which probably you won't, be politer than you would back home.

It's such a strange city. Especially downtown, the neighborhood will be fine, you cross the street then it's not fine.
Boulevard - Bad
Cabbagetown - real bad
I don't go south of Little 5 or West of GA Tech.
Love the Virginia Highlands, Midtown and Dekalb Co.
Buckhead is far too overrated.

I know some of the bad spots here. For example, anywhere west or south of I-285. All in all, the city isn't all that bad.
