condition but not great. How would I go about that w/o totally damaging my hair. I can get my hands on professional products. Whats the best permanent color? I need instructions. :)

once you go black, you don't go back for a while. you're kinda screwed. you'd have to bleach your hair (which will fry it) and then add the color.

black was a bad choice. that's why i started with red.

wella color is good. but really if you want to do this you should have it professionally done. good luck

bleach out the color even if its dyed or natural.(it worked for me anyways) then get the dye of the specific ruby red hair color you want and then put some at home highlights in. the longer you keep the bleach in and it gets brighter,which it'll be ok if it turns red and orange like color because you leave it in for the maxium results in the color you're dyeing it to be as bright as possible;it will make your hair a really nice bright,wild,ruby red.i would suggest herbal essense for at home ruby red color dye kit.

Black is possibly the hardest colour to remove from your hair - sorry :(
