People for the ethical treatment of animals is what peta stands for. The way you are going I'm sure they would be pleased to have you in their ranks.

I respect your opinion, and I have heard all of these arguments before. Here is my viewpoint on these. 1. When I see a human being go out into the wild and attack and then rip apart an animals flesh with their bare hands and teeth, I will respect that argument. Humans use man-made things (guns, arrows, etc) to kill their prey and usually the animal doesn't have a fighting chance. And how do humans know to build these man-made things to kill these animals? Intelligence. In my opinion, an intelligent animal should not be taking another animals life for food when there are other types of food suitable for survival. 2. My digestive system and immune system haven't felt better since I started a vegetarian diet. I have less gas, less constipation, I catch less illnesses. I also see some omnivores taking pills to keep up a healthy diet...what's the difference? 3. To me, meat tastes horrible. That's like me saying everyone should eat spinach cause spinach tastes so good. Not everyone thinks so, therefore not everyone eats it. 4. Seriously? If that were the case shouldn't we just kill all life forms because we're all going to die eventually anyway. Life is a gift.

Don't listen to those who say that PETA is just a bunch of ecoterrorists. PETA is a wonderful organization that does everything in their power to save animals from cruelty, animal experimentation and other causes. They are trying to get their word across that animals need and deserve to be respected just like people but, some don't seem to care. The only thing that I don't agree on that members of PETA do is when they spray paint peoples fur coats-I think that is way out of line, I don't agree with people wearing fur either but, I would never violate someone in that way. I have been a PETA member for 10 years now, and I think they are wonderful especially what they have done so far to help animals involved with Ohio State University, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, IAMS pet foods and Proctor and Gamble and KFC. I hope they win the fight. I hope you become a veterinarian, you seem to have a big heart and the desire to help the animals. I am a vegetarian too.

PETA is an organisation whose full name is People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. They campain quite rigorously against people who wear fur and also animal testing. They gain a lot of recognition because they have many 'showbiz' supporters and they court celebrity endorsement.

If you want to be Vegan or Vegetarian then that is up to you. You can furthur you cause and support animal rights in whatever way you please. PETA are not the only organisation out there.

Deciding to become vegan/vegetarian is a personal choice. You do not need the validation of any organisation.

Have your views.

And stand by them.

But be tolerant. You are 13 so I would ask you keep an open mind - don't rush to condemn people with differing attitudes

Your question refers to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Your parents reference to PETA is (rightly or wrongly) suggesting you are overly involved. You may not be, but I'm guessing thats what they are trying to say. I'm not saying anything against PETA. I'm just trying to think what your parents are thinking.

Keep your views but remain tolerant.

All the best

People For Ethical Treatment of Animals. They are a good organization but like any organization, they have their share of freaks.I am a member but I do not agree with everything they do.I think your beliefs are noble ones, and judging by what you have said here, you will make an excellent veterinarian.Your parents are wrong to call you a freak. They should respect your decisions to be who you want to be.But remember this, although your beliefs are noble and just does not mean you should try and force them on anyone.I also belong to the Humane Society of the United States, the ASPCA,and I give to the North Shore Animal League.Needless to say I love animals too.But I am not a vegetarian, nor do I wish to become one.And I do not agree with you on the cutting trees thing either but I repect your beliefs and we are both animal lovers,so you should respect mine and your parents too.God Bless and good luck in you veterinarian studies!!!

P.E.T.A - Stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. You have every right to your opinions, but, I would do some research on PETA before you associate yourself with them. They are not all they say they are.

Good for you, that you have your own opinions. I would like to see you become a vet or a run a pet rescue. There are a lot of very radical animal activists, and the way they get their message across is too radical for me.

are you ready to save the cockroaches?
if not forget PETA! Join other associations that do similar things without all the crazies. there are quite a few. Problem with PETA, is they cry alot, but have no solutions. They give environmentalists, a bad name.

I am against the abuse of animals more so than most people, but PETA crosses that fine line between overly concerned and insanity.

when you get to college and start learning a bit more about biology, ecology, biochemistry chemistry, and anatomy, you'll realize just how absurd you sound right now.

that may sound like an insult to you at the moment, but in about 10 years it will only sound like reason.

let me give you a little hint: it isn't cutting down the trees that is causing global warming, it is the speed at which it is being done without replanting them.
it is also how it is being done, in a careless way, not that it is being done.
