call the doctor and ask his nurse to get you a reply.

Many dentists are so apt to yank the wisdom teeth out at a moment's notice, but it is not necessary. It was suggested that I have mine pulled also, but I have never had any pain or trouble with them. The reason dentists want them out is because they are hard to keep clean and often need to be filled if cavities occur. It is a pain in the neck for a dentist to have to fill a tooth that is so far back and not easily accessible. Therefore, they'd rather pull them than have to deal with them. I speak from experience... I used to be a dental assistant. So no, you don't need to fool with them if they aren't giving you any trouble.

I don't quite know why it's white but you certainly don't want to pick at it. You'll get a dry socket which is PAINFUL!! If the pain started AFTER you began picking at it, that may be why. Usually the blood will clot where the teeth were but I can't say I remember it being a white color. Hopefully it's not infected. Your doctor should have scheduled a follow-up visit to make sure it's healing properly. If you can actually speak to someone at the office just make an appointment and don't wait for them to call you back. They probably gave you prescription pain killers but for me, Ibuprofen worked much better and didn't knock me out.

Good luck!

it's normal for the holes from your wisdom teeth to hurt because they're just sore. and the white stuff you see is probably your jaw bone. so i don't think it's anything to worry about, but just continue to double check with the dentist just in case.

The dentist might have left a piece of the tooth in there, and usually wisdom's extractions are very painful.

it is not really too uncommon for bone or tooth fragments to be left behind in these cases----and if the wisdom teeth are impacted and require surgery they too may leave fragments in their wake-------most of the time the fragments work their way out naturally and you will feel them----if it becomes a problem you should be seen for a follow up visit....all too often it seems people are herded thru like cattle and not informed of these possibilities----you may want to be seen----I hope everything works out OK for ya!

You should contact your dentist. You could have an infection or something known as a "dry Socket". This condition is very painful and usually is treated with antibiotics. In the meantime, try rinsing your mouth with a weak salt solution to promote healing and cleaning. Be careful poking around in there. It could be that you are getting food trapped in the holes. Rinsing with warm salt water should help with that too. If you begin to get in a lot of pain, or have a strange or nasty taste in your mouth, or notice any kind of drainage, go to your dentist or urgent care or the ER. You could Have a really bad infection and it is very close to your brain.

Don't "pick" anything out. They should have given you a syringe to rinse the areas with water. If not, get a better dentist.
