University professors have been out in left field, sucking their thumb on evolution and belonging to the godless society for years. Not all, but some. Some, believe it or not, are coming to their senses and asking questions rather than sticking to a dead curriculum. Our educational system is so far back in the woods that they can't find daylight. Darwin helped. Get a bunch of educated people in a room and all are right, none are wrong. If they even think they could be wrong they'll change something to make them right. Say I'm wrong - never. They don't know how.

I'm not an Atheist, but I believe the quote means that Rich Dawkins does not believe in the gods of the established religious organizations. This is mainly because established religion demands blind faith while pushing aside logic, science, and reason.

Sounds a little angry & highly combative. Your point?

A true atheist doesn't try to convince others they are wrong. A true atheiest will do what is right because they feel it is. No reward is needed. Dr. Dawkins is looking for the reward of combat.

Of course it makes sense. You can't physically attack a God, but you can figuratively attack a concept, which is exactly what he has defined God as; an invention of man.

I never heard of Dawkins. But his name keeps popping up on Q&A so maybe I better start reading him.
Thanks for the education.

MsScarlet47 is right - Them being scared actually makes sense. It certainly explains the rants and hypocrisy I have seen from so many "christians" in my life.

Dr. Dawkins is I think really a bit scared that he may just be wrong. People who are totally secure in what they believe don't have to yell, scream, stomp, holler and threaten to get other's attention. That goes for Christians as well as atheists.

I'm assuming he means it figuratively. It would seem contradictory for an atheist to truly attack God, considering the atheist doesn't believe in Him and all.

It is obvious that he is attacking the 'concept' of any and all gods and all things supernatural that have ever been or will ever be the product of any ones imagination.
